The Ottawa Senators Foundation empowers children and youth to reach their full potential by investing in social recreation and education programs that promote both physical and mental wellness.
In partnership with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, alumni association, corporate partners and fans, more than $100 million has been contributed to thousands of initiatives and charities in the National Capital Region.
We are proud to make a direct impact in the lives of so many each year. During the 2016-17 hockey season we will provide more than $1 million of support to more than 50 charitable organizations in the National Capital Region.
Do It For Daron (DIFD)
The Bridges Program run by DIFD addresses the needs of youth experiencing complex and persistent mental health issues as well as the needs of their families. Of the youth referred to the Bridges Program, 73% are experiencing suicide ideation, 91% severe depression and 67% severe anxiety. More than 75% of these youth are designated high risk and nearly 30% have attempted suicide before entering the program. Failing to provide essential treatment and support after they leave the hospital can have devastating consequences. The Bridges Program is essential in managing the gap between hospital acute care and community care. During its first full year of operation in 2014, the Bridges team provided life-saving support to 117 youth and families in the Ottawa region. The Bridges Program is funded through YSB and DIFD/Hockey Talks at the Sens Foundation.
